This Pride Month, we’re discussing why eating disorders are so prevalent among LGBTQIA+ folks. LGBTQIA+ individuals are at a higher risk of developing eating disorders or disordered eating, and face more barriers to accessing treatment. In our LATEST BLOG, we explore eating disorders in the LGBTQIA+ community. We look at how existing in an inherently unsafe world, minority stress, medical trauma, and dysphoria all contribute to the complexity of these conditions. At The Current Therapy Services, we believe that eating disorder recovery should be affirming of all identities. Recovery requires emphasizing queer joy, liberation, and safety beyond only behavior reduction.
