We’re thrilled to welcome three new faces to The Current team. Each brings warmth, curiosity, and a heart for this work. Whether supporting young clients or stepping into the therapy room for the first time as a clinician-in-training, they share our mission of offering compassionate, client-centered care. We’re excited to have them on board as we continue growing our services and supporting our community through every stage of healing in the safe, supportive environment our clients count on.

Therapist Megan Bogue from The Current Therapy Services, Columbia, Missouri

ELISE SMITH, MSW

Elise works with children, adolescents, and college-aged students navigating eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety, OCD, suicidal thoughts, identity exploration, and LGBTQIA+ experiences. Her deeply relational and integrative approach draws from narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as ERP, DBT, and RO-DBT. Elise believes therapy should honor the full range of human experience—challenging, awkward, beautiful—and she shows up authentically to create space for her clients to do the same. She also invites exploration of how societal systems and expectations impact mental health. Elise is currently under the supervision of Kelsey Esser, MSW, LCSW.

SOEUN HONG, CLINICAL THERAPIST INTERN

Soeun [So-un] works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, imposter syndrome, and life transitions related to relationships, careers, and migration. She is especially passionate about supporting clients with eating disorders and body image concerns. Currently a third-year doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Soeun is under the supervision of Carmen Buis, MSW, LCSW, and is training in Radically Open DBT and eating disorder specialization. Her approach blends DBT, RO-DBT, and humanistic, process-oriented therapy rooted in authenticity, collaboration, and compassion. Clients often describe her style as clear, empowering, and relational—offering a safe space to be seen, build self-trust, and connect more deeply with themselves and others.

TRACY STATEN, CLINICAL THERAPIST INTERN

Tracy is a clinical mental health counseling graduate student at the University of the Cumberlands, currently under the supervision of Carmen Buis, MSW, LCSW. She is in training in both Radically Open DBT and the specialization of eating disorders. Her therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and curiosity-driven, helping clients build emotional regulation skills, deepen self-trust, and reconnect with their authentic identity. With 17 years of experience as a dance and gymnastics coach, Tracy values incorporating movement and body awareness into the healing process. She is also certified in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), which informs her work in helping clients shift thought patterns and create meaningful, lasting change. Tracy offers a compassionate space for exploration, healing, and personal growth.

Choosing to work with a clinical intern isn’t just a more affordable option—it can also be an incredibly enriching therapeutic experience. Interns are immersed in up-to-date research and training and bring a fresh, thoughtful approach to each session. They are often especially intentional and thorough in their work, carefully preparing and tailoring sessions to meet your unique needs.

Interns at The Current don’t work in isolation, they’re supported by experienced licensed supervisors and a collaborative team environment. That means when you meet with an intern, you're not just gaining one perspective, but the collective insight of multiple trained professionals. Many clients find that working with an intern feels just as powerful—and sometimes even more personalized—than therapy with a seasoned clinician.
