Therapy for Anxiety

Schedule with one of our compassionate and creative therapist today to help you ride the waves of anxiety.

You feel overwhelmed, paralyzed by trying to make decisions, exhausted from trying to plan for, prepare for, and prevent bad things from happening. Sometimes, you lay awake at night replaying everything that happened that day, that week, or even that thing that happened 10 years ago. Your chest is tight, your muscles are tense, and you just can’t figure out how to relax. Sometimes you feel like your mind races so fast that it is on fire.

This is anxiety.

We can help. Our individualized therapy approaches can help you develop the strategies you need to put a little water on that fire. Anxiety is part of our range of human emotions. It’s never totally going away. We wouldn’t want it to. It does serve to protect us when we need it. However, for some of us, that emotion of anxiety (or fear, or stress or however you want to label it) is on overdrive. We can teach you how to listen to the anxiety that is useful and actually protective and then we can teach you how to quiet down the anxiety that is not serving you.

We understand that anxiety is not one size fits all. Sometimes you have anxiety because of trauma, social anxiety, anxiety as a part of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, panic attacks, or general anxiety. Some of us experience anxiety as ruminating worry thoughts that keep us from focusing or sleeping, others of us feel it more physically in our chest or stomach, or sometimes we avoid a lot in our life to try to prevent anxiety from happening. Our therapists work to understand your unique experiences with anxiety and are creative when helping you develop solutions.

We know you’ve tried so many strategies to stop worrying. Breathing exercises just don’t cut it. Luckily, all the therapists at The Current are trained in both standard Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Radically Open Behavioral Therapy that gives them a library of about 75 different coping skills to tailor to your specific struggles with anxiety. Our therapist will help you identify triggers, symptoms, and patterns of your anxiety. Then they will help you add in effective coping skills at every step of the process so that you can find some relief from your anxiety.
