Megan Bogue, M.Ed., LPC

Therapist

Hi, I’m Megan. I am a licensed professional counselor who specializes in working with teens and adults who are experiencing difficulties in life like eating disorders, trauma, low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. You have been through painful experiences in your life and may be using a variety of unsuccessful coping skills to handle those big emotions. That’s where I come in.

My passion for working with individuals struggling in their day to day lives came early. I fell in love with learning about people of all different cultures and how much strength and resilience they have while studying Sociology in college. From there I have had the opportunity to support people through addiction and mental health concerns within the community. My interest in working with trauma survivors came when I worked in an outpatient counseling agency. I saw that a major part of battling substance use and mental health concerns was a core need to be loved and accepted at core. I have taken that passion of working with people to learn to be ok and love themselves and became an expert in teaching self-care. This past experience easily transitioned me into my work with eating disorders. I’m passionate about helping people achieve recovery from their eating disorder, allowing them to form a strong sense of self and increased self worth free from eating and body image issues.

I have been in the field of mental health for over 15 years. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Columbia College and my Masters of Education in Counseling from Stephen’s College.

I am trained in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT). I utilize a person-centered approach when working with clients. In addition to my work with eating disorders and self-image concerns, I also have diverse experience working in LBGTQ+ populations and substance abuse.

My clients can expect to be met without judgement and free to explore all aspects of themselves in a safe place. I tell my clients they are the masters of their own lives and I am honored to be a part of their journey.

My clients appreciate my compassion and empathy. They understand my mix of humor and directness. My clients can expect to be met with lots of silly metaphors to help understand and process information. My goal is to empower my clients to feel “ok” with themselves and feel they are worthy and enough for the unique lives they live.

Megan’s rate is $120 per therapy hour.
