At The Current, we highly value our students!
The Current is a teaching clinic for counseling or social work practicums and internships and we are so passionate about training students to work with our specialized populations in hopes that they will continue to apply some aspects of these clinical skills in their future work.

Student roles and opportunities
Carry an individual caseload
Co-facilitate RO-DBT skills classes
Facilitate other therapy groups
Complete intake assessments, treatment planning and progress notes for individual clients
Participate on at least one weekly Consultation Team determined by learning track: Child & Adolescent Team, Eating Disorder Team, RO-DBT Team
Conduct research on quality assurance of treatment programs
Training for clinic specializations such as the treatment of eating disorders, RO-DBT, child & adolescent therapy
Requirements
Minimum commitment to placement is 9 months, 1 year is preferred
Complete all required orientation and foundation training prior to seeing clients, and ongoing assigned trainings and readings throughout placement
Consistent attendance and participation on weekly consultation teams and individual supervision
Prepare consultation for supervision and teams, including showing one recorded session per semester
Carry an individual caseload of at least 4 clients (max 10)
Complete all documentation: assessments, treatment plans, progress notes within 72 hours of completed service

Our internship can be highly individualized to your strengths and interests outside of the minimum requirements. We strive to find a balance between allowing you to get comfortable and pushing you out of your comfort zone. Our team is incredibly passionate about the work that we do and equally supportive to each other.
We highly value training, consultation and team support. We provide you adequate training and supervision needed to adhere to treatment protocols and safety in working with specialized populations. You are given regular guidance, feedback, and support to enhance evidence based concepts, strategies and skills needed to provide individual and group therapy, coaching and case management duties.
